Stand Alone!

I thank God simply for the new year!

Okay, ppl are probably gonna call me crazy, but I'm kinda looking forward to SPM. Lol.

Now this post is a response to a post by Anders (refer to his post on Monday, December 29, 2008).

Yes, I totally agree with what he has said in his post. For those of you who are too lazy to go click on his link at the side of this page and read it for yourself, well, here it is. Um...just the main idea.

God created us in His image, and so our every action will reflect who He is. Therefore, we must be aware of what goes into our minds. Are they pleasing to God? Do they have negative effects or positive effects on us? Be careful what you watch, read and listen to, and TAKE A STAND FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN NO MATTER HOW AGAINST THE FLOW IT MAY SEEM!

There's this song I learnt ages ago in a character building seminar. It's called the Children's Institute and is affiliated to the Bill Gothard Basic Life Principles Seminar. It's a kid's song, but hey, I'm a child at heart. It's called 'Stand Alone', and here are the lyrics.

What if all the other fish are biting?
What if all the juicy worms look mighty fine?
Should I go ahead and try it?
Start a 'see-food' diet and hope it's not the end of a fishing line?

What if all the pretty lures are shining?
What if swimming the other way may hurt my pride?
They may think that I'm 'all wet' but I will never get
What all of the other fish get - FRIED!

What if all of the other fish swim downstream?
What if' I'm the only one who's making waves?
Should I stop when I feel queasy? Find a way that's easy?
Instead of trusting God to keep me strong and brave?

What if all of the fattest worms are wriggling?
What if all of the other fish say they're not hooked?
They may say that they're my friend, but I know in the end that
All of the other fish get - COOKED!

Stand alone, stand alone
I must purpose in my heart to not take part
Make it known, I'm His own
And the Lord will help me stand alone!

So basically, this song has the whole message. It's saying that your stands may be different from what the world believes in, but do you want to get 'fried' or 'cooked' like the rest of the world? Or are you going to take a stand? And when you take that stand, God's not going to just leave you there to fend for yourself. He's going to help you out!

Personally, I'm doing a fast now and am committed to only eat fruit and veggies and drink water (yes, just water) for 21 days! My mum's a real good cook, so that in itself and the fact that I'm eating together with my family and while they enjoy everything, I'm only eating veggies and fruits, is a challenge. BUT, God has really enabled me to stand for what I'm committed to.

I'm also not listening to the radio anymore. Ever since I read the book 'I Can Only Imagine' by MercyMe and Jeff Kinley. It's a real good read and I recommend it for all out there who are willing to read it. Yes, and thanks to Doulos, I got myself a good supply of Christian CDs for me to listen to. Some of them are instrumental, so that's really good for me to listen to when I'm doing my personal quiet time.

I will not deceive you and say that once you resolve to do these things it'll be no sweat. Temptation will come, but GOD will NOT tempt you beyond what He knows you are capable of. It was hard for me at first, but now? Not anymore. I've got a drive that keeps me on track, I know that God will help me.

So, after all that, I'm going to ask you. Are you going to take a stand for God?

WOW!

Thank You God for a safe trip.

I arrived, exhausted after the flight around midnight. And just in time too to watch my aunt dress up her cupcakes. There was a special order themed around David Archuleta's newly released album. I was treated to a show of some piping...just words, though, but all the same, for an even font, a steady hand is required. She even did the SONY BMG logo on one of the cupcakes! We went all the way to town to make the delivery...

Tonight, I'll be watching my aunt fill more orders, and tomorrow, I'm hoping to head over to Bentley's to check out a couple of accessories for instrument maintenance! Yay!

Ooh! My aunt just showed us a heart-shaped carrot cake. Two layers, and in the middle, white choc cream cheese frosting! Just WOW. Wow, wow and WOW. Seriously, check out her blog. Some cool stuff.

My blog is dead too!

I am getting tired of tags.

Thank God for my job!

It's going much better than i thought it would, and mind you, whatever has to do with music, kids and teaching for me is great! With the job comes pocket money for me to spend when i go back to civilization, so it works out great for me!

Basically, Nihplod .Forp just declared my blog dead, too. Haha. Yup. So this is really the ghost of the Domesticated Musician blogging in her place.

It's the holidays, and just yesterday, my faithful Nick came home...to me...yes, and I smothered him with kisses and...okay, not that bad, but i've really missed him. He's been gone for quite a while, so it's good to have him home. Ed on the other hand welcomed him with open arms and paid his tribute to Nick who, as i mentioned earlier, has been my loyal companion since January 2002. We go a long way back...

Having the two of then home has really been good...and i've been enjoying spending time with them. Loads of time.

Just thinking of how far i've come with the aid of these two guys really makes it seem like only yesterday i was a helpless kid, knowing nothing at all, and now, look at me! It feels good...haha...

Nihplod .Forp will be free soon...well, from the evil hand which, unfortunately, i'll have to face in a year's time. And then when he's free, there's no telling what squeals and laughter will be around the house...oh, wait. He has one more day of affliction. And after that, only less than a month before he takes off. Sobz...

Now with that in mind, i shall go and mourn for the loss of Nihplod .Forp soon to befall me along with the loss of a part of me which will go with him...

ps. Oh, by the way, do go and have a look at http://sinfullyyourscakes.blogspot.com/. Wonderful creations...

OrPeS Rocks!!!

In this post, I'm gonna thank God for OrPeS.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, I went for this orchestra thing and it was SUPER FUN!!! Yeah, we performed after two days of practice, but all the same, it was really, really fun.

We went to RTM and waited for the bus (well, me and the other people...but those from my school...the other two had to go straight from school. I bugged the teacher in charge of the thing! Lolz...) then we went to Sekolah Seni Kuching for the first day's practice. It was sooooo cold and my lips turned blue! Haha...then on the second day, we went to Santubong (well, we got lost at first coz our bus driver went to the wrong place) and we had a blast!

Kay, can't say much anymore...oh, wait. There was the new tenor sax that Lyn used. So pretty la! Gold and silver...I got the chance of snapping some shots with it. With all that said, I must say that new relationships were fostered, and friendships built. So really thank God for OrPeS and I really am looking forward to more of such experiences!

St Teresa rocks, and together with the others, we ALL make OrPeS rock! Can I get an "Amen"??

Random ramblings...

Thank you God for the drummer who just joined our team!

Well, technically, not JUST, but today was his first time playing (he's been training with us for quite some time now), and he did a really good job! I am very sure God will continue to use him and anoint him. Oh, and if you're reading this blog (our new drummer), welcome to the team! It's just so wonderful to see people rising up to the areas in which God is calling them to serve.

That's about all from me today...just to thank God for our new drummer. God knows our plights. Haha...and two of our musicians' break will end soon. Next month, they'll be back in action! YES! We'll welcome them back, too.

Study break! (or is my blogging a break from studying?)

Thank you Lord for the holidays!

Finally! The Raya holidays are here and my school has a week off! Haha...but then, my final term exams will be 4 days after we go back to school. So it means it's time to study, study, study. Not much time left as time flies. It's already the end of September!

My picture speaks for the domesticated musician I am. There is a cookbook (Pol Martin!) and then there is a Mozart sonata I am working on and a book I'm reading, called I Can Only Imagine.

I was on worship duty yesterday in church and I really thank God for the opportunity to serve Him. I played more flute yesterday, and it was just so refershing! So a word of encouragement to all aspiring church musicians out there, it's an honour to serve God and we should take this opportunity to give back to God the talent He has given us. I wasn't all that confident when I started out playing in church, and I didn't really have someone to teach me what to do. All I had was..."Just fly around in the scale". That's all. I explored from there. It took time, yes, but then the end result is...I can't even find words to describe how it feels! Even now, I am still learning.

Ultimately, know that when you're up there, you're up there for God, and not for man. So like Colossians 3:23-24 says, "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."
And then in 1 Timothy 4:12, "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
Remember that when you go up there, people see you, so stay right with God and let your life be pleasing to Him and give Him all the glory!

Can I get an "AMEN!"?

Hmm...

Someone told me I should post more...so here goes.

I thank God for my brother. He's pretty intelligent, though he professes not to be...how else would one manage to do so well despite being so involved in the school band? He's a terrific guy, and I really envy him coz he always manages to think of something smart to say, or a quick comeback...he always seems to say intelligent stuff. I guess us being only one year apart is one of the things which has attributed to how close we are. Sure, he has his big-brother-I-know-better-than-you attitude, but I know that if he were to go overseas now, I would really miss it. So I'm gonna treasure all my time I have with him.

He's good looking, although he claims not to be, which is why there are girls who come up to me and go, "Your brother is SOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!". How else would you explain that? He IS good looking.

I know it's not normal for a sister to tell the world that she loves her brother, but in fact, I LOVE MY BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really. I love him a lot. Maybe it's because I only have one brother, maybe it's because he doesn't go around talking non-stop, maybe it's because he teases me a lot, maybe it's because he simply cares for me. But ultimately, I'm glad I have him. He's a good listener, and he's fun to talk to. Sometimes we just sit in his room and have pointless conversations, but I really treasure our relationship coz I know that nothing in this world is forever, and since I have him, I'm gonna be selfish and keep him until we have to part.

He can be weird sometimes, but then again, who's not? As he says, "This is a normal world. Everyone's weird". See what I mean by he says intelligent stuff? He is full of analogies, which, of course, he puts to good use in debates. He comes up with them right on the spot.

Today, as usual, I went into his room to wake him up, and every morning, I say "Morning, kor". His response this morning was "Mmm". That's his usual response other than "Morning". And then, I came home from school, upset with a certain something and I find I can just confide in him. It's good having him around, coz I as a girl, can tend to go overboard with my reactions and it's my brother who brings me back down to earth. Yeah, so you know who you are, you made me mad today, and I've got a brother, and he's someone you don't have. He's my flesh and blood, and I absolutely, absolutely love him.
